The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a beautiful and profound traditional Catholic devotion designed for the family. It involves inviting Jesus into your hearts and homes, recognizing His reign of love and mercy over your lives and families.
WHY: The request is directly from Jesus Himself! He told St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, "I will bless the homes in which an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored."
An image of the Sacred Heart is more than just a picture. It is meant to be a source of daily devotion and grace to draw us toward God and enlighten our souls with Divine Truths. It is a commitment to live in accordance with His teachings, to foster a loving and faithful family environment, and to spread His love to others. By enthroning the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we acknowledge Him as the King of our hearts and homes, seeking His divine guidance and protection. Pope Pius XI, in his encyclical "Miserentissimus Redemptor," highlighted that the devotion to the Most Sacred Heart is the extraordinary remedy for the extraordinary needs of our time.
HOW: A prayer ceremony will take place in your home with a priest and members of the Legion of Mary, as an act of homage offered to Jesus Christ, King of Kings.
WHO: Parishioners of St. Bernadette Catholic Church are welcome to participate in the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart; a devotion designed for the family.
WHAT must I do:
- Set a date with the Legion of Mary.
- Have a Sacred Heart of Jesus image (photo or statue).
- Select a place of honor reserved for the image, prepare a "throne" or " altar."
- Invite relatives and friends to be present.
- There are various ways to prepare your heart...
- Your entire family should try to receive Communion at Mass before the Enthronement.
- Your family may start a Sacred Heart Novena 9 days prior.
- You may also commit to a 33-day Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
